Hi there,
There's a particular kind of magic that happens the first time you see a beautiful design transfer applied onto an ordinary piece of furniture or home decor item… that moment when you discover something very plain has been transformed into something extraordinary! If you've been a little intimidated by IOD Transfers, this informative video tutorial is for you. The IOD "sisters" are going to walk us through it step by step. I promise: the process is much easier than you think and will give you the confidence to take the plunge!
Let's make something beautiful together.
This Issue's Project: Applying IOD Transfers
IOD Decor Transfers are pressure-sensitive, adhesive-backed designs scaled for furniture and décor — you simply transfer the beautiful image straight onto your project. Watch the full walk-through above, then keep these steps handy as you work:
Start with the right surface. A chalk-type paint with a seal coat works best — the seal coat actually enhances how well your transfer adheres.
Keep it in the package until you're ready. Leave each design on its protective backing right up until you apply it. That backing protects the adhesive and keeps dust and debris from ruining the stick.
Hover, center, then lay it down. Hold the transfer above your project and center it before it touches down — once it's on, you can't reposition it. When it's where you want it, lay it down and smooth it out with your hands.
Adhere it with the applicator stick. Use the included stick to rub over the whole design, pressing it onto the surface.
Peel back slowly to check. Lift it back gently to make sure everything transferred. If any piece didn't adhere, lay it back down carefully and rub again.
Burnish for a strong bond. Clip a small piece of the film the transfer came on and use it to burnish — it's smooth, so it won't pull. Fold the edges up slightly so you don't accidentally slide a corner under your transfer and lift it. Go over the design lightly in little circles first, then again with a firmer hand.
Seal it (optional, but worth it). A water-based polyurethane evens out the sheen between the transfer and the surface and adds protection. Once the sealer dries, you're done.
Product spotlight
The transfer used in the video is called Ephemeral Melange — I love it, and so do crafters all over the country. It's wonderfully colorful, and the 8"×12" size makes it so easy to apply. Unfortunately, we're out of stock right now, and so is IOD.
But here's the good news: if you haven't seen the recently released Summer Collection yet, there are five beautiful new transfers that are every bit as colorful — and three of the five are that same easy-to-use 8"×12" size.

The Belgravia — Stacked teacups and fine china — perfect for a tea-lover's piece. Eight 8"×12" sheets.

Fern Fables — Whimsical folk-art birds and butterflies in painterly watercolor. Eight 8"×12" sheets.

Primrose Isle — Delicate cottage-garden wildflowers and fluttering butterflies. Eight 8"×12" sheets.

Flowers by the Poets — Songbirds, sunflowers, and a vintage summer verse. Eight 12"×16" sheets.

Marché des Fleurs — Old-world flower-market roses and peonies in full bloom. Eight 12"×16" sheets.
Come see these beautiful transfers at our stores at the Lebanon Peddlers Mall in Lebanon, Ohio, and Home Collective in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Stop in to see them up close and pick the one that's calling your name.
Happy crafting,
Diana
P.S. — If you try one of these transfers on a piece, I'd love to see it. Reply to this email and send me a photo — there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing what you create.
